FRANKLIN (Frankie) LOUIS JUDSON MEAD
June 9, 1988 - January 1, 2005

MISSION STATEMENT
To help give life and hope to those who wouldn't otherwise have the
opportunity to go to college and further their place in this world.

Frank Mead's dream was for his son Frankie to go to college and be the first of the family to receive a college degree. That dream was cut short in January, 2005 when Frankie Mead was fatally stabbed during an altercation in San Francisco in the early morning hours of New Year's Day. A scholarship fund in his son's name has been established and will be administered by and done in conjunction with other educational opportunities sponsored by the Marin Education Fund's Summer Application Institute. This scholarship is a way of recapturing the dream that was taken from him, to help someone else to go to college and benefit from the type of tutoring and mentoring in the Summer Application Institute.

In Memory of You
As quick as the rocket launches into space
This life cannot be replaced
Like a dream, but yet a nightmare,
The tears we all seem to share
We still sit here wishing this is not real.
We can't tell the rain from the sounds of our cries,
We're still wondering why you had to die.
Knowing that you had such a great heart.
Still wishing you did not depart.
Wishing you could make us laugh one more time,
Wishing you could hear me say this line...
Your heart is that gold.
Your heart is more than what is told.
It's the feeling you gave us,
You gave us your very best.
Your heart is that rainbow after the rain dies down.
Your heart is the moment in that sound.
Your heart is more than what can be defined.
Your heart will always stay within mine.
But now in heaven,
Where every hurt and curse is erased.
You're now in that perfect place,
no tears, just happiness,
Hopefully, it's the best.
You're probably playing cards with angels right now.
Let me guess, you won somehow?
Basically, what I'm trying to say...
We will meet you up there someday.
