Frank Mead is sponsoring a scholarship fund in his son's name to be administered by and done in conjunction with other educational opportunities sponsored by the Marin Education Fund's Summer Application Institute.
Frank Mead will work with the Marin Education Fund in determining the scholarship winner. The inaugural
winner will likely be a Novato High student.

The scholarship winners will be announced at the Marin Education Fund Summer Application Institute's
closing ceremonies August 6 at Dominican University in San Rafael. It begins at noon and is open to the public.
The graduation service is the culmination of a five-day college preparatory experience for approximately
50 Marin County soon-to-be senior Students.

The Institute is an attempt by the Marin Education Fund to help bridge the gap in educational disparities
throughout Marin County. Although Marin County students make significant academic achievements,
only 17 percent of minority groups in the county are represented in higher educational opportunities,
according to Marin Education Fund press release.

"This is what we want to do, help someone achieve those dreams." Mead stated.
"We're just trying to stay involved in the process." Mead said the support of the
community has been helpful in him moving forward.
Former (Love Is The Answer) Executive Director Peigin Barrett was instrumental
in helping get the scholarship idea off the ground.
