Frankie Mead was stabbed outside a Denny's Restaurant at Fisherman's Wharf,
one of the most popular tourist locations in San Francisco.
He died a few hours later at San Francisco General Hospital.
Another Marin student, Adriana McDonald, a Redwood High student, also was stabbed in the altercation.

The San Francisco Police Department and the District Attorney's office decided after a lengthy and thorough investigation in April that they could not hold Amber Oberholtzer, a 21-year-old Elk Grove, California resident, criminally liable in the stabbings of Mead and McDonald.

The Family and Friends of Frankie Mead believe that Frankie’s tragic death has been made worse by what we feel is an obvious cover up by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office and the San Francisco Police Department. There have been numerous delays and outright lies by both of these agencies to portray Frankie and the youth of Marin County as a wild and marauding gang that was about to destroy the City of San Francisco and that Amber Oberholtzer was justified in her stabbing of two the youths even though she was not a participant in the altercation and suffered no known physical trauma. Even the police report that was issued does not support their ultimate decision not to charge the assailant with any crimes; yet she carried and used a concealed weapon which is a felony crime even in San Francisco. There is also a controversial intervention on her behalf by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

We have attempted to engage legal representation; however, some prominent Attorneys have ignored return telephone calls after talking to the District Attorney’s Office. We have also requested assistance from some of the Bay Area Community organizations who seem to be disinterested. We are still seeking any assistance that we can get and welcome any inquiries that might help seek the peace that Frankie’s life and legacy deserves. We will continue with our own investigation and evidence gathering activities until the complete truth is discovered and published.

A legal fund has been established to hire legal and investigative professionals who will provide us with the truth.
